Hardware India server market factory revenue touches $727 m Our Bureau New Delhi, April 6 The India server market factory revenue rose 24 per cent in 2007 to touch $727 million, while shipments grew 19 per cent to 1,35,615 units during the same period, according to IDC. The IDC Asia Pacific Quarterly Enterprise Server Tracker finds that the overall India server market has witnessed a healthy growth as customers continued to refresh and expand their IT infrastructure. “Apart from traditional sectors like telecom, BFSI and manufacturing, 2007 also saw the emergence of retail and construction as key demand drivers,” a release said. Revenues, shipmentsDuring calendar year 2007, factory revenues of the India x86 Server market grew 24 per cent over 2006 to touch $414 million, while unit shipments grew 21 per cent to 1,26,940 units. According to IDC, HP emerged market leader in the India x86 Server market with 33 per cent share during 2007 both in terms of factory revenue as well as unit shipments. In 2007, the India x86 blade server market recorded 103 per cent growth over 2006 with 12,146 units shipped. Meanwhile, the factory revenue of the India non-x86 Server market also grew by 24 per cent year-on-year to touch $313 million in 2007. IBM, the leaderIBM emerged market leader in this segment with a 38 per cent share in 2007 in terms of factory revenue, the IDC statement said. More Stories on : Hardware
