M&M launches Alfa Passenger in AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, April 14 Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) announced the launch of Alfa Passenger, a new diesel three-wheeler in the Andhra Pradesh market. The vehicle has been priced at Rs 1.3 lakh ex-showroom price, Hyderabad.

“The Alfa Passenger offers several customer-centric features which add greater value to the vehicle.

“It has a spacious cabin for both the driver and passenger.

“While the floor panel is 20 per cent more, the overall height is around 10 per cent more as compared to other vehicles in the market,” Mr Vivek Nayer, Vice-President of Marketing (Automotive Sector), Mahindra and Mahindra, told newspersons here on Monday.

He added that the engine of the new Alfa has low noise levels and vibrates far less, as compared to the competitors.

Alfa is part of the company’s range of commercial vehicles. It had earlier launched Alfa Cargo and the MaXX Maxi truck.

Market presence

According to Mr Nayer, the annual sales in the passenger segment were around 2.2 lakh vehicles and the three-wheeler, three-seater passenger category has a big market potential.

“The segment is expected to grow further on account of infrastructure development and increasing transportation needs,” he added.

According to company officials, currently the diesel segment contributes around 62 per cent of the total sales in the category, while petrol contributes 22 per cent and gas (LPG and GNG) contributes 16 per cent.

‘CNG, LPG versions soon’

“We have launched the vehicle in seven to eight markets across the country in the last one month and in the next month or two we would have presence across the country.

“Also we are looking at launching the CNG and LPG versions of Alfa soon. However, we have not yet decided on the exact date as work on the variant is going on,” Mr Nayer said.
