Events States - Andhra Pradesh Stress on indigenisation in Navy Visakhapatnam, April 15 A two-day seminar and exhibition – Indsem 08 - began here on Tuesday in the Eastern Naval Command in the naval dockyard. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Vice-Admiral Raman P. Suthan, inaugurated it. On the occasion, he said the Navy had launched a 15-year programme to achieve 85 per cent indigenisation and consequently such seminars were being organised to enable interaction with the industry, especially the CII. He said the Navy had placed orders for more tha n 30 ships in different shipyards in the country.He exhorted the industry to rise to the occasion and forge a symbiotic, and synergetic, relationship with the Navy to achieve the long-term objectives. The Chairman of the CII Committee on Defence and the CMD of Kirloskar Oil Engines, Mr Atul Kirloskar, delivered the key-note address. The Superintendent of the naval dockyard, Rear-Admiral H.S.
