Our Bureau

Mumbai, April 17 Global public relations and communication firm Burson-Marsteller on Thursday announced the formation of a Burson-Marsteller South Asia Network (BMSAN), with the signing of strategic alliances with independent public relations companies across Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. The network will be coordinated through Genesis Burson-Marsteller, a wholly owned company in India.

The partners in the network include Strategic Alliance of Sri Lanka, Mediators Ltd of Pakistan, Cogito Marketing Solutions of Bangladesh and Media Tech Associates of Nepal. The agreements were signed in the presence of Mr Bill Rylance, Vice Chairman, Global Development and Chairman Asia Pacific for Burson-Marsteller.

Mr Rylance told Business Line that the strategic collaboration would help in expansion of the network in South Asia. “Creating new avenues for growth and network expansion is our strategic priority and we see South Asia as an important growth engine. The agreements signed today significantly strengthen our footprint and services in the region,” he said.

Mr Rylance said India held out exciting opportunities in the public relations space, as Indian companies “are hitting the headlines around the world.”

GBM will be making significant investments in India and come out with new offerings, especially in the digital space. “The new products will be technology driven,” he said. He estimated the size of Indian PR industry to be close to Rs 300 crore.
