Hyderabad, April 18

Arviva Industries (India) Ltd, the Mumbai-based fabrics manufacturer, has entered the garments business with the Harry Collection trousers.

The company, which has been launching the trousers in various cities, is planning to enter the shirts, women’s wear and accessories segments in the next six months.

Export cut

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Mohan S. Adiram, Head (Sales and Marketing), said the company planned to reduce exposure to export business due to the depreciating dollar.

The company, which registered a turnover of Rs 169 crore in 2007-08, is targeting a turnover of Rs 200 crore. “Exports contribute nearly 60 per cent of our turnover. This will reduce significantly in the next few years. We would like to focus more on the domestic market,” he said.

The company manufactures 10 million metres of fabric at its Mumbai facility. It set up a facility in Bangalore that could churn out 50,000 trousers a month. “We will upgrade it to one lakh pieces soon,” he said.

The company would appoint distributors in different States to take care of supplies in the respective areas. It did not have immediate plans to open exclusive outlets.
