V.Rishi Kumar

San Jose , April 18 Microsoft Corporation has outlined how smart, handy connected devices are set to proliferate, opening up opportunities to new services and scope for developers to engage themselves in embedded products and services.

The General Manager of the Embedded Systems Group, Microsoft Corporation, Mr Kevin Dallas, said that the industry is at a tipping point where smart, connected devices are set to impact people in more ways then ever before.

This opportunity will see huge investments from companies, he said while delivering the Microsoft industry address at the Embedded Systems Conference, Silicon Valley, 2008, here.

The corporation has invested over $100 million in this area in the last two years and plans to empower the developer community with products and productivity enhancing tools.

The corporation also set up two embedded systems centres in Germany and China, to be close to the community.

Microsoft through its partners demonstrated some of the innovations including a versatile point of sale terminal developed in partnership with 12 vendors.
