Foodgrains Maize prices marginally up G. Gurumurthy Coimbatore, April 21 Maize prices at major market yards last week have risen marginally at Rs 7,230 a tonne compared to around Rs 7,090 in the previous week. This is despite higher production and better deliveries in the market. There has also been a slight increase in the other coarser grains’ prices too. Pearl millet prices went up by four per cent to Rs 7,600 a tonne. Similarly, sorghum prices too have registered moderate increase of some one per cent over the previous week’s price at Rs 10,140 a tonne, according to the US Grains Council’s India market report. The report said the maize price situation would remain stable for a couple of weeks. The deliveries in the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka markets are stated to be good. The corn prices on Chicago board of Trade are quoted at 235.97 a tonne for May delivery and the same for the July delivery is close to $241.32. More Stories on : Foodgrains
