Announcements Hind Zinc finds new resources in Rajasthan Our Bureau New Delhi, April 21 Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) has announced that successful explorations have led to an increase of 28.7 million tonnes (mt) to its reserves and resources. Zinc-lead metal ore resources increased by 4 mt while total reserves and resources as on March 31, 2008, stood at 232.3 mt containing 27.5 mt of zinc-lead metal, a company said in a release. The discoveries are primarily in the Sindesar Khurd and Rampura Agucha mines. The aggressive drilling programme undertaken by the company at Sindesar Khurd mine has augmented the resource base to the current level of 37 mt, making it the second largest ore body in HZL’s portfolio after Rampura Agucha. At Rampura Agucha the company had undertaken 28,000 metres of drilling in 32 holes to outline mineralisation below a depth of 550 metres. Of these, 29 holes intersected ore widths with significant grades averaging 15.5 per cent zinc and 2.0 per cent lead. The combined reserves and resources at Rampura Agucha alone have been augmented to 107.3 mt on March . More Stories on : Announcements | Metals | Minerals
