Plan for milk chilling plant

Tiruchi, April 21

The Pulivalam Milk Producers Cooperative Union has proposed to establish a 5,000-litre capacity milk chilling plant at Pulivalam, according to its Special Officer, Mr C. Damodaran. Speaking at a meeting union at Pulivalam recently, Mr Damodaran said the union had procured 16.79 lakh litres of milk and distributed 13.71 lakh litres to the Tiruchi District Milk Producers Cooperative Union during 2006-07. The rest were sold locally. With a membership of 2,200, the union had r egistered a net profit of Rs 4.71 lakh during 2006-07. The union had purchased two computers after obtaining permission from the Dairy Development Department, he said. —
