Our bureau Hyderabad, April 22 In a move that would help the visually-challenged people, NTPC Ltd has provided computer and software support to the Devnar Foundation for the Blind, Hyderabad. JAWS for Windows (job access with speech), a screen reading and screen magnification software, along with two personal computers (PCs) and two scanners have been provided by NTPC. Financial aidThe public-sector, power major has extended a financial assistance of Rs 2,07,600 to the Devnar Foundation for procuring the software and hardware to help the children, according to a press release. Mr A.N. Dave, Regional Executive Director (South), NTPC, inaugurated the JAWS facility at the Foundation today. Dr A. Saibaba Goud, Founder Chairman of the Foundation, and senior officials of NTPC also participated in the event organised on the occasion. Jaws softwareThe JAWS software, which has several applications, including note takers, Braille displays and other devices, enables the visually-impaired students to use and access information. They can browse the Web, read or write e-mail messages, work with spreadsheets, or access information of their interest.
