Nod for Shaw Wallace merger with United Spirits

Kolkata, April 25

The iconic corporate entity by the name of Shaw Wallace & Company Ltd faded into history on Friday with shareholders of the company approving a scheme of amalgamation that sought to merge Shaw Wallace & Company with UB Group company United Spirits Ltd.

A meeting of equity shareholders of Shaw Wallace & Company was convened here on Friday by the Calcutta High Court, which had issued an order in this regard on March 12, 2008. . The scheme will be effective from April 1, 2007.

The share swap ratio has been fixed at four fully paid-up equity shares of the face value of Rs 10 each in United Spirits Ltd for every 17 fully paid-up equity shares of Rs 10 each in Shaw Wallace & Company Ltd.
