Farakka record power generation

Kolkata, May 5

The Farakka Super Thermal Power Station of State-run NTPC has made a record generation of 11,739.39 million units (mu) during 2007-08. It has also achieved an all-time high plant load factor (PLF) of 83.53 per cent during the year, says a press release. The previous highest generation of 11,463.86 mu and a PLF of 81.79 per cent were achieved in 2005-06. The year also witnessed the highest-ever generation of 39.58 mu with a PLF of 103.09 per cent in a single day on June 3, 2007. The availability factor of the power facility during 2007-08 was 89.80 per cent which was also the best since inception. The approved capacity of the Farakka installation is 2100 MW. At present, three units of 200 MW each and two units of 500 MW each are in operation. Work on construction and erection of another 500 MW unit is under progress, adds the release. - Our Bureau
