Thiruvananthapuram, May 9

Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Indian subsidiary of the US-based Degree Controls Inc, has announced the third edition of TechTop, a project competition for engineering students.

Organised as an all-India competition, TechTop is scheduled to be held at the Technopark on August 18 and 19 this year, said a Technopark press release. The theme for this year’s contest is ‘rural technology and global warming’.

“The motto behind this contest is to promote and reward innovative ideas among our budding engineers and to create an innovation and entrepreneurship climate in India,” said Mr N. Radhakrishnan Nair, CEO, Technopark.

Besides prize money worth Rs 1 lakh for the most innovative, socially relevant and commercially exploitable projects, all projects selected after the final screening round will be eligible for incubation support from Technopark, the release said.

Projects that have been submitted for inclusion in the competition include proposals for a pneumatic solar collector, arecanut de-husking machine, coconut de-husking machine and so on.
