Life Insurance Council appointment

Chennai, May 9

Mr S.B.Mathur, former Chairman, Life Insurance Corporation, has taken over as Secretary-General, Life Insurance Council, effective from Friday. He replaces Mr S.V.Mony, who handled this responsibility for the last three years. Mr Mathur had served as the Chairman of LIC for 26 months from August 2002. Post his retirement,the Government appointed him as the Administrator of the Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India in December 2004. Mr Mathur is also the non-execut ive Chairman of National Stock Exchange of India and is currently on the boards of leading corporates and financial services companies such as IL&FS, ITC, Grasim, HDIL, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
