Hyderabad, May 14 Satyam Computer has announced it has developed a solution for process manufacturing companies useful in annual or semi-annual plant maintenance shutdown. Citing the Priya Cement deployment, the brand name of Rain Commodities Ltd (RCL), Satyam said they helped reduce plant shutdown time from 18 days to 13 days and produce additional 15,000 tonnes of cement generating $1.6 million worth of sales. In a statement, Satyam said that this solution is based on the Theory of Constr aints developed by Israeli physicist Eliyahu Goldratt. The Theory of Constraints centres around application of principles and reasoning to improve productivity in companies. In addition to the work at Priya Cement, Satyam has used this solution to reduce shutdown times by 30 per cent at Shree Cement resulting in production of an additional 24,000 tonnes. It is gearing up to apply this solution to other industries such as chemical process, petroleum refining and steel sectors. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Software | Satyam Computer Services Ltd
