Kerala cuts sales tax on petro goods

Thiruvananthapuram, June 6 The Kerala Government has announced cutbacks in sales tax on petroleum fuel prices amounting to Rs 1.22/litre for petrol and 66 paise for diesel.

According to a spokesman of the Chief Minister’s Office, the sales tax being levied will now stand revised to 26.03 per cent (from 29.01 per cent) in the case of petrol and 22.49 per cent (24.69 per cent) for diesel.

The mark-down in sales tax is expected to lead to a cumulative outgo of Rs 322 crore in revenues during the current financial year, the spokesman said here late on Friday.
