Farm workers preparing field for cultivating next crop near Thrissur. Paddy production in Kerala increased by 11,588 tonnes even though the area under cultivation reduced by 12,213 hectares from 2,75,742 hectares in 2005-06 to 2,63,529 hectares in 2006-07. Alappuzha district stood first in productivity.
