Plea against unauthorised taxis

Kochi, June 22

T ravel Operators Association of Kerala has urged tour operators in the State not to encourage the use of unauthorised taxis, which is a great concern in the industry. The Association Secretary, Mr Raju P. Nair, pointed out that any move to promote unauthorised taxis would destroy the travel industry and it will be strongly dealt with. He said that the association had gathered details of almost 250 such illegal taxis plying in the city. The police department had also extended its support in the drive against unauthorised taxi service, he added. He said tourist transportation is an integral part of the tourism industry. Exploitation by certain tour operators by encouraging unauthorised taxi service is creating unhealthy competition and bargaining in the industry, he said. – Our Bureau
