Our Bureau New Delhi, June 24 Punjab National Bank (PNB) has received the Reserve Bank of India’s approval for opening a representative office in Norway. “Now that we have RBI’s approval, we will approach the regulatory authorities in Norway for their approval. We expect to open the representative office in the next few months,” Mr Ranjan Dhawan, General Manager (International Banking and Overseas Operations), told Business Line. To upgrade officeMeanwhile, PNB is looking to upgrade its representative office in Shanghai to a branch and had already approached the Chinese regulators for this purpose. The bank is also planning to upgrade its representative office in Dubai to a branch. The RBI has already given its nod for PNB to have a branch in Dubai. Besides Shanghai and Dubai, PNB has a representative office in Kazakhstan, which may get upgraded to a branch or a joint venture in the coming days, officials said.
