Power States - Kerala Kerala to face load-shedding from today Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has imposed a half-hour load-shedding in the State from Friday. According to a release from KSEB on Thursday, the load-shedding will be between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., the peak power consumption hours. The Electricity Minister, Mr A.K. Balan, informed the State Assembly earlier in the day that KSEB had originally proposed a one-hour load-shedding in view of the poor storage position in the State’s hydel reservoirs. There was the added problem in getting the State’s full share of power from the Central grid. The Minister said that the State’s peak load demand now was in the region of 2,700 MW, while the maximum energy that can be put on the grid was 2,200 MW. Against the allocation of 1,041 MW for the State from the Centre, the availability now varied between 600 and 700 MW. More Stories on : Power | Kerala
