Simplify tax system: Modi

Ahmedabad, June 29

At the felicitation ceremony of the newly elected President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Rupesh Shah, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr Narendra Modi, said, "The tax system is complex and needs to be simplified so the common man is able to make sense of it. VAT is a step in this direction." He said the State needs institutes of infrastructure and human resource for inclusive growth, adding that it will soon set up a Forensic Science College, the first of its kind in the country. Talking of new initiatives, he said, "I have a concept of Rurban in my head, a place where rural virtues and urban infrastructure coexist." - Our Bureau
