AC advertising on TV up 49% in Jan-April

Chennai, June 30 Air-conditioner advertising saw a growth of 49 per cent on TV during January-April 2008 compared with January-April 2007, according to a study conducted by AdEx India.

Godrej & Boyce Mfg Company Ltd was the top advertiser of air conditioners on TV during January-April 2008. This was followed by Voltas Ltd and Samsung India Electronics Ltd.


Godrej Eon Air Conditioners led with 16 per cent share of the overall air conditioner advertising on TV, followed by Voltas Vertis Gold and Samsung Bio Sleep with 14 per cent and 13 per cent share respectively.

The figures are based on secondages.

Regional channels

The regional channels had 25 per cent share of the overall air conditioner advertising on TV.

There was a 45 per cent rise in the average number of air conditioner ads per day during the period compared with January-April 2007.

The top five advertisers of air conditioners contributed 59 per cent share of the overall air conditioner ad pie on TV during the period under consideration.

Further, advertising of air conditioners on national and regional channels was in the ratio of 75:25. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh lead in advertising of air conditioners on regional channels.

During this period, the States from the South zone contributed 83 per cent share of the overall air conditioner advertising on regional channels.

On the other hand, advertising of air conditioners on TV recorded a 9 per cent drop during 2007 as compared with 2006.

Godrej Eon Air Conditioners, Hitachi Vi Series AC and Fedders Lloyd AC were the top three new air-conditioner brands advertised on TV during 2007.
