Mumbai, July 2 Future Brands, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Future Group, is poised to have an international footprint beginning with the neighbouring countries of Malaysia and Singapore. With 75 per cent of the company’s turnover coming from outside the Future Group, the brand consulting company has now decided to take up consulting projects in the Asia-Pacific region to expand its presence in the global market.

Mr Santosh Desai, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer , Future Brands, told Business Line, “We are looking at taking up some brand consulting projects in the Asia-Pacific region. There have been enquiries from countries such as Malaysia and Singapore and we intend having an international footprint.”

Brand building for Titan

Future Brands is already doing a host of consultancy-based projects for Indian companies and brands such as Titan, Fastrack, Dabur (Odonil), Godfrey Philips and Godrej Sara Lee. In fact, its biggest client is Titan where the consulting division has recently helped in sharpening the focus of the brand. Adds Mr Desai, “Today Titan and Fastrack are two of our biggest projects and we have been giving consultancy in terms of the product, pricing, advertising and retailing presence for these brands. Currently, we have eight big clients and nearly 14 projects outside the Future Group. Consulting is a vast universe and we intend having more brands both within and outside the Future Group,” said Mr Desai.

Unlocking value

Meanwhile, within the Future Group, Future Brands has been owning, managing and building brands such as Bare, DJ&C, John Miller and unlocking their value and also working with group companies such as Future Generalli, Future Money, KB’s Fair Price. “Currently, the Future Group companies contribute nearly 25 per cent of our turnover but as we grow we would be seeking new avenues in the international markets as well,” Mr Desai added.

Going forward, Future Brands expects to forge joint ventures and alliances to build more brands in areas such as skincare and cosmetics.

“We are looking at creating joint ventures and alliances and introduce some new brands in skin care and cosmetics,” he said.

Besides, there are likely to be new brands in categories like food and apparel. Future Brands is in the process of rolling out brands such as DJ&C, Bare and John Miller outside the Future Group-owned retail formats into multi-brand outlets across the country.

Currently, Future Brands generates revenues to the tune of Rs 20 crore with joint stakeholders like Mr Kishore Biyani, Mr Santosh Desai and Pantaloon Retail.
