Purform ties up with OK Play to make mannequins

New Delhi, July 2 New Zealand-based Purform, a major player in the manufacture of plastic mannequins, has entered into a long-term agreement with OK Play India Ltd to manufacture and market its products in India.

As per the agreement, Purform will provide the technological support to the Indian partner.

In addition, it will also shift its entire production base to OK Play’s facility at Bawal in Haryana and outsource its requirement for the international markets from them.

Crucial market

“India is a crucial market for retail expansion and has one of the highest retail densities worldwide. Purform, being the largest selling international brand, has already a standing in the Indian market also. So we decided to harness the vast potential that the sector offers for growth,” Mr Maurice Purdy, Managing Director, Purform, told reporters.

Mr Rajan Handa, Managing Director, OK Play India Ltd, said, “Our engineers will be working with Purform’s research and development team to adapt and customise the product suitable to the Indian as well as global markets. We will initially manufacture over 20 different types of mannequin to suit the requirements of the retailers”.

He said OK Play is also diversifying into several product categories like outdoor playground equipment, auto products, children furniture and delivery boxes.

New projects

For this, the company is setting up three new projects in Bawal (Haryana), Ranipet (Tamil Nadu) and in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), with a cumulative investment of Rs 70 crore in addition to utilising its existing facilities at Sohna (Haryana).

“Land has already been acquired in Tamil Nadu and Haryana and commercial production is likely to start by the end of this fiscal,” Mr Handa added.
