Hyderabad, July 3 The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the District Collectors not to take a target-oriented approach to train the youth under the Rajiv Yuva Shakti programme.

“The Chief Minister told the District Collectors that the Government has sanctioned Rs 400 crore for various skill development programmes. Already targets have been given to various districts and a saturation concept should be followed for these training programmes,” Mr Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, State Information and Public Relations Minister, said while addressing a press conference on the conclusion of a two-day Collectors’ conference here on Thursday.

He added that the Collectors were informed that since there was a lot of industrialisation happening in the State, it was important to have local youth industry fit otherwise the opportunities will be grabbed by people from other regions.

“The Chief Minister hoped that at least 10 lakh youth will benefit from these programmes and be ready to be employed by the industry,” he said.

Mr Reddy said the State Government has already sanctioned Rs 290 crore to provide help to 1.71 lakh youths under the Rajiv Yuva Shakti programme.

The Minister informed that until June 15 out of the total assurances made by the Chief Minister 73 per cent have been fulfilled and the others will also be taken up and completed soon, the Collectors were told.

“The Chief Minister in the last four years in various tours made a total of 2,797 assurances of which 607 assurances have been completed to an extent of 27 per cent and 138 assurances have been completed to an extent of five per cent and the Collectors and Officials were instructed to complete these projects soon,” he said.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to complete the various programmes taken up under the Rajiv Pallebata and Rs 230 crore, out of Rs 343 crore sanctioned, has already been released.
