‘Make use of skill registry’

Our Bureau

Chennai, July 3 Mr Som Mittal, President, Nasscom, on Thursday called upon software companies to use Nasscom’s National Skill Registry (NSR), a database repository of IT/BPO employees. So far, around 3 lakh employees have registered themselves with the registry. Registered employees are given a photo identity card, and companies can refer to ti for a background check of candidates, Mr Mittal said, while speaking at the Nasscom HR Summit 2008, here.

“Cognizant has been using the registry to a great extent, and I request others to use the NSR services,” he said.

Nasscom has engaged the services of NSDL Database Management Ltd (NDML) for creating, operating and maintaining this database. NDML is a subsidiary of National Securities Depository Ltd — the first depository in India.
