Our Bureau New Delhi, July 3 India’s fifth largest IT services exporter HCL Technologies (HCL) on Thursday announced that it has been chosen as a key partner to provide product engineering services and technical publication services to EADS. EADS, a global leader in aerospace defence and related services, has chosen 28 tier-I partners out of its existing pool of around 2,000 suppliers. Part of its global sourcing strategy, this move would enable EADS to achieve significant cost reductions, increase its global competitiveness and widen its global industrial reach, an HCL release said here. Currently, EADS spends about €2 billion per annum on engineering services, which includes research, modelling, flight physics and design of aircraft. The consolidated supplier base, which covers the entire EADS Group, is expected to lead to significant cost reductions. The services provided by HCL would be delivered to EADS Group via EADS’ Indian Design Centre in Bangalore.
