DuPont launches two herbicides

Our Bureau

Chennai, July 4 E.I. DuPont India Pvt Ltd has launched two herbicides for rice and sugarcane crops.

These will be followed up with the launch of a range of crop protection chemicals including Rynaxypyr, a broad spectrum insecticide that has been a success across the world, according to company officials.

Mr Ram K. Mudholkar, Business Director (South Asia), Crop Protection Products, E.I. DuPont, said that this was the first time DuPont is coming out with rice and sugarcane crop protection products in India. In the coming months DuPont plans to launch at least five more crop protection chemicals including fungicides for soyabean and insecticides for rice.

The products launched on Friday are: Londax Power for transplanted rice crop and Velpar K4 for sugarcane – both broad spectrum herbicides.

Londax Power is a granular herbicide, which makes it easy to use either as a standalone application or along with sand and fertilisers. It should be used 0-3 days after transplantation after which it protects the crop during the crucial 30-40 days, which decides the yield. It is a one-shot application that controls grasses, sedges and broad leaved weeds.
