SBI insists on online fund transfer

Coimbatore, July 7

State Bank of India’s main branch in the city informed its customers “Drafts will not be issued today due to technical reasons. Sorry.” When contacted bank officials seemed to have no clue about this disruption in service. It was, however, learnt that about 300-400 drafts were issued daily and the volumes peaked during (educational institutions) fees season. Bank sources said that they were trying to educate the customers to transfer funds online. “ We are insisting on funds transfer online, without incurring additional cost and have the transaction effected on real time,” they said. —
