Wind power

It is a good initiative on the part of the Government to have announced an incentive of 50 paise per unit of wind power produced and transmitted to commercial grids (Business Line, July 8).

In the context of the hike in petro goods prices, it is imperative to increase our capacity in this type of energy generation, as has been done by Denmark, Portugal, Spain and Germany.

Such an incentive can be extended to power generation companies also to enable them reap the economies of scale by using the incentive.
