Inflation hurts

The rise in crude prices and inflation have blighted hiring hiring prospects, say industry experts.

The signs are already there. Many mid-size and small technology companies have put off on-campus recruitments by six months due to business uncertainty in the US.

Clearly, the most affected are engineering colleges, where IT companies have reduced the intake of students and offered little or no revision in pay packages. The hiring slowdown is so far visible in the telecom and infrastructure sectors which, though, have just upped their employment outlook index over the last quarter. Will this also impact the hiring index in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune? Only time will tell.
