Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, July 10 Orthodox leaf tea witnessed good export enquiry at the Kochi tea auction. Exporters were also active in smaller CTC leaf grades, absorbing a fair amount. In dust tea category, medium black CTC grades witnessed some amount of export enquiry while bolder CTC grades had enquiry at lower levels. Blenders lent good support at lower levels and loose tea trade was also fairly active. There was 8,88,000 kg of dust tea on offer at the auction, which elicited good general demand. High priced CTC dust, which opened weak, became steady towards the end. Medium CTC was steady to dearer by Rs 1-2. Medium orthodox dust was steady to dearer by Rs 1-2, while high grown dust remained steady at higher levels. Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 66-75, medium CTC realised Rs 60-65 and below medium was at Rs 57-62. High grown BOPD fetched Rs 86-110, medium BOPD was at Rs 54-59 and secondaries quoted Rs 51-53. Leaf SaleThere was 4,00,000 kg of leaf tea on offer at the auction. High grown orthodox bolder varieties were firm to dearer by Rs 2-3. Smaller broken and fannings were irregular and eased by Rs 2-3. High quality fannings remained steady. Medium orthodox broken were barely steady. Medium whole leaf grades were steady to dearer. Price of CTC leaf eased by Rs 2-4. Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 85-106, medium orthodox quoted Rs 68-88, plain orthodox was at Rs 62-67. More Stories on : Tea
