Spot rubber rules steady

Kottayam, July 10 Spot rubber closed almost steady on Thursday. The only loser of the day was RSS 4 which slipped by 50 paise to Rs 129.50 a kg on buyer resistance. The volumes were dull.

The market activities were in an extremely low key owing to a hartal announced by the Merchants Association. According to observers, the sentiments were partially affected by a weak closing in global indices reflecting the weakness in oil futures.

July futures weaken

On the international front, RSS 3 weakened at its July contract to ¥335.2 (Rs 134.38) from ¥335.5, August to ¥334.3 (335), September to ¥334.5 (335.1), November to ¥335.5 (336.9) and December to ¥335.8 (336.8) while the October contract improved marginally to ¥334.9 (334.7) a kg at TOCOM. RSS 3 spot fell to Rs 138.27 (139.43) a kg at Bangkok.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 129.50 (130); RSS-5: 128 (128); ungraded: 126 (126); ISNR 20: 129 (129) and latex 60 per cent: 88.50 (88.50).
