‘HK exports to India close to $4 b’

Kolkata, July 12

Hong Kong’s export to India was close to $4 billion, while imports from India stood at about $6 billion in 2007-08, according to Ms Vivian Wong, Economist at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Gems and jewellery contributed a major chunk of the exports from Hong Kong, followed by electronics, machinery and watches, while it imported leather and textile raw materials from India, Ms Vivian said, speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of a programme orga nised by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce here, on Friday. Ms Wong is on a visit to India to study the potential of establishing and fostering partnerships between India and Hong Kong-based companies.
