Bangalore, July 14 Luxury Swiss watch brand Raymond Weil is looking to expand retail footprint in the Indian market; it is evaluating options to open exclusive mono brand boutiques in India.

Replying to mailed questions, Mr Olivier Bernheim, President and CEO of Geneva-based Raymond Weil, said, “We are committed to expanding in the Indian market quickly. Many options to open exclusive mono brand boutiques have recently been offered to us and we are at present evaluating those.”

Raymond Weil is present in Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, Far East, West Asia, North America and South America.

It has exclusive boutiques in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Lahore and Singapore.

In India, Raymond Weil has developed partnerships with about 20 retailers in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kolkota and Pune.

Its watches are available through select multi-brand outlets of these retailers such as the Ethos studios in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Pune; Helvetica in Chennai; and the Swiss Boulevard in Mumbai. Raymond Weil is also present at a duty-free store in the Mumbai airport.

Crucial market

“Raymond Weil will continue to expand its visibility by strengthening its exclusive partners network,” said Mr Bernheim. “India is not only a must market for luxury brands but it is also crucial to be present here. India is becoming a matured market for luxury goods, particularly for Swiss high-end watches. A number of Indians are now turning out to be watch connoisseurs. For few years now, this market has developed itself quite nicely with a steady growth and has a huge potential to grow. The purchasing power is increasing all over the big metros and investing in India has become a must,” said Mr Bernheim.

Raymond Weil watches are priced in the $1,000-5,000 category.
