New Business Agri-Biz & Commodities - Animals & Livestock States - Andhra Pradesh IVRCL bags contract for livestock institute building Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 15 IVRCL has been awarded the contract for the first package of Rs 78 crore for the construction of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Advanced Research on Livestock (IGCARL). The Centre is coming up at Pulivendula, the hometown of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who on Tuesday launched its Web site. The second package for Rs 98 crore is under finalisation and would be awarded to IVRCL next week. Total area of the veterinary centre is about 7,35,000 sq ft, according to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office. The Chief Minister, who reviewed the progress of works and also the issues of animal husbandry, fisheries and A.P. dairy federation, wanted all the building complexes to be completed by September 2009. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation is finalising the proposals to submit to the Union Government for notification of Livestock Biotech SEZ in about 50 acres initially. The entire infrastructure also will get ready along with the research and main complex soon. The complex also will have farmers’ quarters etc. It was planned to distribute high yielding milch animals on 50 per cent subsidy to 1.32 BPL families under the Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s special packages. The Chief Minister also agreed that besides filling up 160 veterinary assistants’ posts, permission may be accorded to fill the balance of 640 posts of veterinary assistants.
