IT Training HughesNet plans more training centres overseas Sankar Radhakrishnan
Thiruvananthapuram, July 16 After kicking-off its international foray with centres in Dubai and Sharjah, HughesNet Global Education (HNGE) plans to start at least 10 more overseas training centres by the end of the calendar year. HNGE, a division of Hughes Communication India Ltd, uses a satellite-based interactive technology platform to offer education and training programmes across India. Currently, HNGE is in discussions with the Government of Bahrain to start a training centre in that country, said Mr Partho Banerjee, President and Managing Director, Hughes Communications India Ltd. This centre will start operations as soon as all the approvals are in place, he added. The strategy that underpins the company’s international expansion is a focus on places where there is a significant Indian community. “Considering the fact that we primarily provide education from premier Indian institutes, currently we are targeting markets that have a high concentration of Indians,” Mr Banerjee explained. This means the company is looking at setting up training centres in places such as Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Canada, Sri Lanka, Oman and Fiji. In each of these countries, the company will start with a single training centre. “As the demand increases, we would look to expand within these markets,” he said. The centres will be run by the company’s business partners in each country, he explained. HNGE hopes to have at least 100 students in each overseas centre over the first one year of operations, he added. The response to the company’s centres in Dubai and Sharjah has been good, Mr Banerjee said. In both locations HNGE currently offers working professionals management courses from IIM-Calcutta and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. HNGE, which currently offers management courses from institutes such as IIM-Calcutta, XLRI Jamshedpur and IIM-Kozhikode, also plans to start training programmes that are driven by the company itself, Mr Banerjee said. For these courses, Hughes will be the certifying authority, he added. HughesNet eyes overseas foray More Stories on : IT Training
