No change in EoU status

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 16

On the withdrawal of export-oriented unit (EoU) status to Reliance Industries Jamnagar refinery and the demand for a ban on petroleum exports, Mr Kamal Nath clarified that the EoU status has been given to all complying with the provisions of the rules. “There cannot be a policy for one particular industry or a unit. If there has to be a change in the EoU policy, it must be applicable to all,” he said.

Mr Nath said that he has not received any representation on withdrawal of EoU status to any industry. Petroleum product exports have become high-earners and the Government does not see any merit in banning such exports, he added.
