Nasscom Eastern Region Council

Kolkata, July 16

Nasscom has set up the Eastern Region Council (ERC) in Kolkata. Led by Mr V.V.R Babu of ITC, the council is currently represented by 12 member companies from the Eastern Region. ERC is the first regional council set up by Nasscom in the country to focus on issues unique to the region, according to a press release from the trade body. The press release also pointed out to a joint study by Nasscom and A. T Kearney named `location roadmap for IT-BPO growth: assessment of 50 leading cities'. According to the report findings, Kolkata has been classified as a `leader' location, while Siliguri and Durgapur has been classified as `aspirant' locations. - Our Bureau
