Power supply

This is with reference to the news report “Tata power can cater to retail customers” (Business Line, July 9.)

The Mumbaikars must be rejoicing after the Supreme Court’s order opened the metro’s electricity supply market to competition.

The residents of Delhi too deserve this kind of choice. Monopoly impacts quality and consumers always end up paying higher prices.

A similar move in Delhi would not only protect families and small businesses from paying higher prices but also ensure better quality of service.

Delhi as of now has been divided into different zones and NDPLand BSES are managing the distribution of electricity in their respective zones.

Doing away with such fragmentation would ensure better quality of power, improved customer service and accurate billing.
