New Products & Services Royal Philips Electronics eyes home care segment Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 17 Royal Philips Electronics has announced the launch of a series of new portable, compact patient monitoring systems, and said that it sees immense potential to cater to the requirements of the home care segment, an emerging area of growth. The newly launched Philips SureSigns VM3 is designed specially for the emerging markets. The Senior Director and Business Head, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, Philips Healthcare India, Mr Anjan Bose, said that it is increasingly becoming difficult to offer health care services in public and private hospitals alone. This has meant the need for simple care devices in the home segment. Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Bose said home care and ambulatory care segments are poised for growth and more so the former, with affordable income levels. The SureSigns VM3 provides a high quality platform of Philips’ patient monitoring systems portfolio. This combines advanced software and technology in compact package and offers ECG, respiration and pulse monitoring capability, he said. “We believe that high-end monitors are out of the reach of many small to mid-size clinics, forcing doctors and nurses to treat patients based on visible symptoms. With access to more affordable patient monitoring equipment, clinicians have the ability to observe patients’ conditions and thereby take informed decisions,” he said. The patient monitoring equipment market is set to grow to about $42 million by 2010, wherein Philips expects a market share of about 40 per cent. Last fiscal, Philips recorded revenues of Rs 550 crore from the healthcare segment. The company operates with headquarters in Mumbai and is planning to move it to Noida by the end of December, Mr Bose said. More Stories on : New Products & Services | Medical & Surgical Equipments
