New Business Titagarh Wagons bags orders for 100 ‘field shelters’ Our Bureau Kolkata, July 28 The Defence Ministry has ordered for about 100 “field shelters,” meant to protect defence personnel from any nuclear, biological and chemical warfare. Titagarh Wagons, a Kolkata-based engineering company, announced on Monday that it has received first batch of orders for 45 such shelters, to be supplied within a period of 12 and 18 months. A total of 100 such shelters have been ordered for the first time to two private companies last week. The other company to receive such order was an Indo-Japanese joint venture. Mr Umesh Chowdhury, Managing Director, Titagarh Wagons, said based on the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) designed shelter, a prototype had cleared rigorous tests a couple of months ago.
