ADP India arm to expand presence

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 28 The Indian subsidiary of the US-based Automatic Data Processing, Inc (ADP) today announced its intent to step up presence in Hyderabad centre and in Pune, the latter serves as a disaster recovery and back-up centre.

The $8-billion human resource and payroll outsourcing solutions provider for one in every six employee in the US, completed nine eventful years here and is looking at the next phase of growth and expansion, according to Mr Shakti Sagar, Managing Director of ADP in India.

Addressing a press conference here along with the Senior Vice-President of ADP Inc, Mr Steve Penrose, Mr Sagar said that this captive services provider has created several significant benchmarks, including low attrition level and high referral-based recruitment. About 45 per cent of staff gets inducted through referrals.

Mr Penrose, who is in charge of the global corporation’s business, said “Indian operations have been crucial to ADP’s business strategy by ensuring our products remain world class, while accelerating deployments and improving service levels.”

“ADP processes details and payments of over 33 million US employees and these are critical. Most of the engagements are for several years and slowdown in the general economy has no direct impact on such business,” Mr Penrose said.

The addition of about 1,000 people would be across Hyderabad and Pune centres, though no definite numbers have been set apart for each centre. The Pune centre accounts for about 500 employees of the 3,000 ADP has in India.

“ADP invested about $130 million in India thus far and continues to invest in creating more facilities. However, this being a cost centre, we do not segregate revenue contribution from India as it serves the parent,” Mr Sagar said.
