BSNL union plans strike over IPO

New Delhi, Aug. 1

The employees union of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has decided to go on an indefinite strike if the Government goes ahead with its plan to list the company’s shares on the bourses. The BSNL Employees Union, representing all the different unions of the company, has sent its resolution to the Prime Minister and the Communication Minister. BSNL has proposed to dilute about 10 per cent stake through the IPO and has the support of the Communication Ministry and the Finance M inistry. —
