Aptech standalone revenue up 18%

Bangalore, Aug 1 Learning solutions provider Aptech Ltd reported an 18 per cent increase in its standalone revenue for the second quarter, sending shares up 2.78 per cent.

For the quarter, profit after tax increased 65 per cent on a standalone basis to Rs 2.78 crore from Rs 1.69 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue was Rs 28.42 crore, compared with Rs 24.04 in the corresponding period last year, the company said.

Aptech said revenue for the retail education business increased 42 per cent to Rs 21.34 crore from Rs 14.96 crore in the year-ago period. The company forayed into Mauritius and Botswana in keeping with its plan of expanding in Africa, it said. Shares of the company rose by Rs 5.20 to Rs 192.20 on Friday at the Bombay stock exchange.

Aptech said that owing to the impending restructuring of its holding in the Chinese joint venture, the accounts for the quarter could not be consolidated, pending receipt of the appropriate financial information. The consolidated numbers will be materially different from the standalone numbers, the company added.
