Foreign Banks Industry & Economy - SSI Small, medium biz upbeat: HSBC study Our Bureau Mumbai, Aug 3 Indian small and medium enterprises (SME’s) remain the most optimistic in terms of their economic outlook and employee recruitment among their Asian peers, according to a small business confidence survey by HSBC. However, the survey that was conducted in May does not capture the negative impact of the double-digit inflation figures. The survey, conducted by research company TNS, covered 3,000 SMEs spread across ten Asian countries. The majority of Indian small businesses intend to continue making capital investments, maintain their headcount ratio and remain optimistic about buoyant trading levels with the rest of the world, says the survey. According to the survey, 74 per cent of Indian SMEs believe that the bankers are playing an increasingly important role in aiding their growth. Though many Asian nations remain optimistic about attaining high GDP growth, Indonesia remains the notable exception. A majority of the respondents from Asia feel that strong economic conditions in China will fuel growth and expect trade levels with China to remain the same or improve. At present, HSBC has around 40,000 SME clients in India. More Stories on : Foreign Banks | SSI
