No turbulent times for airlines

The decelerating profit margin of the airlines in India does not necessarily mean they are experiencing a drop in their revenue earnings, according to a recent study on the Aviation Industry in India. It is the increasing costs that is troubling the country’s aviation sector, the study prepared by Bharat Book Bureau observes, expressing hope that the sector can deal with the crisis. Improved affordability and connectivity add to the expected improvement in both passe nger and cargo traffic and large public and private investments in air travel infrastructure, supported by the government initiatives, are expected to pour in. The report provides a snapshot of the country’s aviation industry and the dynamics that drive the sector, including the size and segments of the market, the changing scenario and the major trends, the interplay among full service and low-cost carriers, the emerging operators and the key challenges.
