Co-op bank staff to back strike

Coimbatore, Aug 12

The All-India Co-operative Bank Employees’ Federation (AICBEF) has decided to extend its support to the August 20 nationwide strike call given by bank employees. The AICBEF General Secretary, Mr P. Balakrishnan, said the employees working in State Apex Co-operative banks, District Central Co-Operative Bank, State Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, Urban Co-operative Bank, Industrial Co-operative Bank, Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank and Primary Ag ricultural Cooperative Banks/Societies would also resort to strike. The federation demand include implementation of the task force recommendation on co-operative banks and revitalisation and strengthening of co-operative banks among others such as lifting the ban on recruitment, imposing a ban on futures and forward trading of all essential commodities, stringent action against hoarding and black marketing.
