Projects worth Rs 30,000 cr cleared in Karnataka

Bangalore, Aug. 22 A Rs 6,151-crore steel plant proposal of Bharat Mining and Minerals-ISPAT Ltd at Hospet and two SEZs near Bangalore are among the 25 mega project proposals that have been cleared by Karnataka’s High-Level Clearance Committee of Industries (HLC).

The proposals that offer to bring in investments of Rs 30,000 crore were cleared by the HLC headed by the Chief Minister, Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa. BMM-ISPAT plans to set up a 2-mtpa integrated steel plant on 3,000 acres at Hospet and will buy the land from farmers.

The two SEZs have been proposed by NEC Pvt Ltd on 500 acres and by Cornerstone Shelters Pvt Ltd on 200 acres, both towards Devanahalli in Bangalore. The land acquisition and zoning patterns are yet to be approved.
