Fortis plans to acquire hospital by September

New Delhi, Aug 25 Fortis Healthcare Ltd will acquire a hospital by September as part of its expansion strategy to have a chain of 40 hospitals over the next three years.

“Fortis is always looking for a growth, both in a organic and inorganic way and will probably close one deal in September,” Mr Shivinder Singh, CEO, Fortis Healthcare, told reporters at a press conference.

Fortis is eyeing a 100-200 bed hospital in the western or southern region. The healthcare company has a network of 22 hospitals at present. Fortis is also looking to foray in international markets. The company is eyeing developing countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia for a possible foray. The company had reported profit of Rs 94 lakh for the quarter ended June 30, compared to a loss of Rs 23.5 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. Fortis plans to add another 3-4 hospitals to the network this year.
